twd ~ Swedish Visiting Cake
All baked up, and no where to go.
This is cake is really quick to make. Its a no fuss, no frills bitt of cake. But it's still very tasty! The top gets a sprinkling of sugar that adds a shiny, sweet crunch. It smelled lovely - all vanilla, butter, and sugar!
The recipe calls for lemon zest to rub the sugar into. The only citrus I had was grapefruit, and it worked well.
It seems like I have a lot of cakes and sweets these days. Lots of family birthdays and leftover treats. That's why this little cake is going into the freezer for another day.

Yum, grapefruit! I almost did that but then figured my husband wouldn't eat the cake (he is not a fan of grapefruit, but I love it!) and then I'd eat far too much of it. :) It looks good!
Im glad you enjoyed the recipe. I have had to cut way back on baking cus I either throw it away or eat to much of it! I loved the sugar with the lemon, I would have never thought of using grapefruit. It sounds like it worked for ya!
You're cake looks delicious! this is a cake that will keep well. Then you can pull it out when company comes.
Oooh grapefruit. I haven't seen any TWD baker use it yet. I have a feeling I'd be a fan of grapefruit infused sugar cake. Yes, ma'am!

i agree, it did smell lovely didn't it!
Yum, I love grapefruit! What a wonderful idea to flavor your cake this way. I stick lots of my desserts in the freezer, too. It's great when you need something to bring to an inpromtu gathering.
I would LOVE this cake with grapefruit; I'm obsessed with it! I made a grapefruit cake from Thomas Keller's book, but I think I'd like this better - and it's a ton easier. My freezer is my best friend when it comes to overflow sweets. Thanks for baking along with me this week.
Right now in my freezer I have...chocolate cinnamon cake, espresso cake, yellow cake and almond sour cream cake. I ate this cake. :) I love the idea of using grapefruit instead of lemon. It looks delicious.
It's going to be great after it comes out of the freezer. That's how I sampled mine and I loved it. Nice job!
